Somalia!? See Why Life There Doesn’t Look So Bad After All

Ugaaso Abukar Boocow grew up in Canada after fleeing Somalia when civil war broke out in 1991 but now she’s back living in Mogadishu and documenting her experiences using Instagram.

She’s bubbly, smart, pretty and brave: just a few reasons why this young woman probably has 44,000 Instagram followers.

But she also wants to make a difference in her homeland where she is now working as a civil servant.

She says massive changes are now happening in Somalia.

The hashtag #Somalia has almost 100,000 posts on Instagram as people use it to tell how life is hopefully transforming for the better in the African nation.

So see the BBC video above to learn more about Ugaaso and her life in the Horn of Africa.
