Summer is here, and this is the time to drink ginger and red date tea. Drinking this tea every morning from the beginning of summer (Li Xia on the Chinese calendar) until Ru Fu (the beginning of the hottest part of the summer according to the Chinese calendar) will help to eliminate any sickness or negative energy that may have accumulated during winter and spring.

This tea drinking principle also aligns with the teachings of The Inner Classic of the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi Neijing). Try this recipe for 2 cups of ginger and red date tea:

  1. 6 red dates
  2. A handful of goji
  3. 10 Sichuan peppercorns
  4. 4 slices of ginger

Add these ingredients to two cups of water and boil until the water turns a light reddish color, drink, and enjoy the benefits of an illness-free summer!
