“Arterial compliance was improved for a full 24 hours after subjects watched a funny movie. Laughing is likely not the complete solution to a healthy heart, but it appears to contribute to positive effects,” Medical News Today quotes researcher Jun Sugawara.
However, people who watched depressing subjects ended up constricting their blood vessels by around 18 percent as per another study. This just goes on to highlight how important it is to keep away from negative situations and keep the mind in a positive frame.
The body’s immune system can also be boosted by laughter. When stressed out, the immune system response becomes lower. However, in a humorous mood, the levels of immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies surge.
Watching a comedy show has also been shown to positively affect brain function, making people smarter. An experiment discovered that people who watched comedy shows performed well in semantic tasks when compared to those who did not watch any funny shows.
