Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings film trilogy will be screened along with a live orchestra next April. 250 musicians will bring these impressive scores to life at Lincoln Center in New York City.

This isn’t the first time The Lord of the Rings has been screened with a live orchestra, but it is the first time the entire trilogy has been accompanied by a live orchestra in the United States. There were single films in the trilogy given concert runs at Radio City Music Hall a few years back.

There is something about the cinematic depth of detail that went into these films that keeps them returning to theaters in one form or another. The live orchestra only adds to the experience of watching these great films.

I wonder what they will try next to add to The Lord of the Rings legacy. Perhaps something visual? Perhaps a 3D conversion is in order?
