Two artists drew attention to people’s obsession with smartphones by dragging iPhones and apples on leashes in Beijing on Oct. 16, a day ahead of the official iPhone 6 release date in China.

Han Bing wanted to continue his performance art series on walking cabbages, and was assisted by his friend Hui Li.

“The smartphones have become a bodily organ,” Han said, according to the New York Times. “They have changed every single aspect of our lives, emotionally and mentally.”

The pair were photographed by passersby until a mall staffer tried to make them go away, and they were eventually escorted off by security guards.
