It was said that ancient Mongolian doctors were very good at treating fractures. Different from Chinese doctors, they had their own unique ways of curing illnesses. An assistant in the palace fell from his horse and hurt his head. It was so painful that he kept groaning. A Mongolian doctor used a bovine bladder to cover his head. After a while, the pain disappeared.
Another man also fell from his horse. It seemed that nothing was wrong with him outwardly. Yet strangely, whenever he tried to walk forward, he moved backward, so he asked a Mongolian doctor to treat him. Without using any medicine, the Mongolian doctor asked two strong young men to throw this man into the air and catch him repeatedly.
After being thrown more than a dozen times, the patient returned to normal. He was very surprised and asked the doctor the reason. The doctor replied:
“Because you fell so heavily from the horse, your liver turned over. Medicine would be useless to you. Only by throwing you back and forth could your liver turn itself back.”
