Chinese bloggers have been sharing this photo of a foreigner in Shandong Province, picking up plastic bottles and other trash on the shore, with many saying that locals should learn from him.

The accompanying Weibo comment reads: “A friend of mine just took a picture of a foreign man picking up rubbish at Badaxia shore. Forward it if you are from Qindao, it’s full of positive energy!”

Badaxia is a bay in the eastern city of Qingdao. There is a prevailing blowing towards the mainland there that brings in tons of floating garbage every day, according to Sina News.

The man is known for trying to clean up the beaches there. The Qingdao Morning Post interviewed some locals, including a Mr. Zhang, who fishes in the area, and had seen the man just shortly before. “A few days ago, it was also just after low tide, the guy cleaned with a blue plastic bag,” he said. “He almost fell into the water once. It was respectable.”
