It seems Chinese not only have a unique driving style on highways, but also their own way of crossing streets that baffles Westerners.

Because too many people try to cross no matter what color the lights are, police in Hangzhou have been pulling up these ropes to stop pedestrians jaywalking.

Apparently, many people have been wriggling while waiting.

However, some are so determined to get across anyway that they just duck under the ropes.
