Recent earthmoving activities prior to construction of new buildings had started uncovered this important archaeological find.

The city has tunnel passages seven kilometers in length and is thought to date back 5,000 years. It is located around the Nevşehir fortress.

Escape galleries and hidden churches were discovered inside the underground city.

Nevşehir is already famous for its underground cities, but none are near the size of this new discovery.
