A video showing Chinese Communist soldiers using an apple placed on top of fellow soldiers’ heads for target practice went viral on Chinese social media recently. There were no casualties, but nonetheless, there were a lot of comments regarding the high risk of such training, with many criticizing it as idiotic and showing no concern for human lives.

The short film showed a group of Chinese communist soldiers undergoing “high risk shooting training.” There were three soldiers with apples placed on top of their heads as targets, while another three soldiers aimed at the apples from a distance of 20 meters. Ironically, the targeted soldiers did not show any signs of panic and they were even smiling.

You can hear the voice of an instructor saying: “Trembling does not matter because the shot will be aimed high above and will not hit the head!” This was followed by an order from the same instructor to fire.

On hearing the order to fire, the faces of the three shooters showed a bit of tension as they prepared to shoot. The first shooter fired, the apple dropped the ground, and his fellow soldier was not injured. The other two shooters followed suit. All three successfully hit the apples, with no casualties to any of their partners. Afterward, they happily picked up the apples to eat.

After the video was circulated, a lot of netizens criticized the shooting training: “This completely disregards the lives of others,” “Is it necessary to use a human target?”, “It is just a show of disgrace and really ridiculous.”

Some netizens believed that the video was a fake, but added: “If it is true, it is simply idiotic.”
