World Mourns Death of Music Legend Prince

The world is grieving the loss of the music legend Prince. He died Thursday at his home in Minnesota at the age of 57. The Internet is alive, as Prince fans from all over the world remember his life.

A lot of kids from Australia in the 80s grew up to Prince. So I was pretty happy as an adult to see him live in London, 2007 — his presence on stage was quite something. Me and my mate Dave made some “Prince” pillowcases with his image ironed on so we could sleep on them the night before. It’s kind of funny looking back.

The most recent memory though is watching the 2015 Grammy Awards where just before Prince was awarded best album he used the platform to show his support for #blacklivesmatter:

‘Albums still matter. Like books and black lives, albums still matter. Tonight and always.’

Prince was known as someone who didn’t embrace the digital world so much, but embraced live music and the written word.

Here are a number of songs that he wrote:

Nothing Compares 2U – Sinead O’Connor

Manic Monday – The Bangles

Love Song – Madonna

Love Thy Will Be Done – Martika

Stand Back – Stevie Nicks

How Come You Don’t Call Me Anymore – Alicia Keys

Sugar Walls – Sheena Easton

Jungle Love – The Time

R.I.P Prince
