On Sunday, Sept. 28, hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners in Toronto held a grand parade in the city center and rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate to protest the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression. The event attracted many Chinese and local residents, with support letters from the Canada-Hong Kong Link and Hong Kong Legislative Speaker Kelvin Kong. The rally exposed the CCP’s atrocities and called for global defense of freedom and human rights.
At noon, the parade started from Christie Park and proceeded along Bloor Street to the Chinese Consulate. The Tian Guo Marching Band and waist drum team performed while hundreds of participants held colorful banners with messages such as “Stop CCP’s Transnational Repression in Canada,” “CCP’s Transnational Repression Harms Canadian Society,” and “Defend Canada’s Sovereignty, Stop CCP’s Harassment of Falun Gong,” drawing the attention of passersby.
Falun Gong practitioners expose transnational repression tactics
Falun Gong practitioner Li Qiang spoke at the rally, listing the CCP’s transnational repression tactics:
1. Infiltrating all levels of government, offering free trips and financial incentives to sway officials, and even interfering in elections.
2. Manipulating Chinese community groups to incite hatred and attack Falun Gong practitioners.

3. Infiltrating media to spread rumors and smear Falun Gong and the Shen Yun Performing Arts group.
4. Sending agents to stalk, photograph, and intimidate practitioners, and threatening their relatives in China.
5. Sabotaging Shen Yun’s tour buses and sending bomb threat letters to theaters to deter audiences.
He added, “CCP agents in Canada surveil and intimidate, using cyberattacks and disinformation to suppress the truth.”
Li condemned the CCP’s use of lies, hatred, intimidation, and violence to repress Falun Gong practitioners as a violation of basic human rights and civilized standards.
He urged the Canadian government to investigate the CCP’s illegal activities and expel its agents. He also advised those manipulated by the CCP to reject evil and choose kindness.
“Standing up today to resist CCP persecution and protect Falun Gong is to protect justice and conscience, and to safeguard the foundation of Canadian society and the future of our descendants!” he said.
Western Falun Gong practitioner Bogdan Diordiev also condemned the CCP for extending its persecution of Falun Gong to Canada through political infiltration, disinformation, cyberattacks, surveillance, and intimidation to suppress the truth. He exposed the CCP’s bomb threats and smears against Shen Yun to cover up its crimes against humanity. “The CCP wants the world to ignore its atrocities. When we remain silent, the persecution continues,” he said, urging Canadians to awaken, reject lies, and defend freedom.
Pro-democracy movement leader Sheng Xue: The power of faith in the battle of good vs. evil
Sheng Xue, Vice President of the Federation for a Democratic China (FDC), spoke at the rally, stating that the world is at a historical crossroads, with a “battle of good versus evil” unfolding between Falun Gong and the CCP.
“Falun Gong practitioners are likely the group persecuted the longest and with the most deaths in the CCP’s history. Why? Because the CCP fears Falun Dafa, it fears Falun Gong practitioners, and it cannot tolerate the spread of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance,” she said. “Not only does the CCP imprison Falun Gong practitioners in China, but it also employs the most evil means in human history—organ harvesting—targeting Falun Gong practitioners. Even Shen Yun, initiated by Falun Gong, terrifies them, and they use every means to provoke, vilify, and even send bomb threats, including once using my name and email address to threaten Shen Yun’s performances.”
She emphasized Falun Gong’s 26 years of remarkable achievements in resisting persecution: “The CCP knows that Falun Gong strives to fundamentally change its ideology, culture, and politics, which terrifies it. Over the past 26 years, Falun Gong practitioners have spread these beliefs and civilized values worldwide through their actions and words, creating a miracle in the history of media through outlets established by Falun Gong practitioners. We are engaged in a battle of good versus evil, and we will surely succeed and win!”
Democratic Party of China: A shared call to defend freedom
Liu Yan, representative of the Democratic Party of China’s Canadian Committee, said the CCP’s transnational repression seeks to silence and intimidate, but Canadians must reject the shadow of dictatorship in a free society.
He said, “The 26-year perseverance of Falun Gong practitioners is an example for us in resisting tyranny! Let us unite to oppose CCP infiltration and transnational repression! Freedom and democracy belong to everyone. Canada is a land of freedom, and we must defend it! Resist CCP’s transnational repression!”
Yan cited the case of French student Zhang Yadi, arrested for “inciting separatism”: “Here, we have the right to freely express our views, pursue the belief in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, criticize dictatorships, oppose the CCP, and enjoy freedom, democracy, and human dignity!”
He concluded, “Let us take Falun Gong’s Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance as our guide, safeguard Canada’s free soil, and welcome the dawn of justice!”
“We Hong Kongers strongly support Falun Gong,” said Matthew, a Hong Kong Muay Thai champion, in an interview with Vision Times, while attending the Falun Gong parade for the second time.
In his rally speech, Matthew shared that he was arrested for his involvement in the 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition protests and for exposing the truth about the July 21 Yuen Long attack in media interviews. He fled to Canada earlier this year. He condemned the CCP for spreading lies to defame Falun Gong, stating, “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance promote good values and self-cultivation.” He denounced the CCP’s transnational repression, including arresting dissidents’ families and committing crimes against humanity like organ harvesting.
He called out, “Whether we are Chinese, Hong Kongers, or Taiwanese, we must unite to defeat the Communist Party.”
FDC Canada Vice President: We cannot remain silent in the face of crimes against humanity
JiajiJiang, Vice President of FDC Canada, stated that since 1949, the CCP has deprived the Chinese people of freedom of thought and religion, killing millions of religious believers, scholars, or anyone deemed a threat. For 26 years, since 1999, the CCP has not only tortured, persecuted, and arrested Falun Gong practitioners on a massive scale but also engaged in large-scale organ harvesting. “We do not accept these crimes, and we cannot remain silent,” he said, calling for an end to organ harvesting and the release of all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners.
The event received letters of support from Canada-Hong Kong Link and Hong Kong Legislative Speaker Alan-Keung Ka Wai—a victim of transnational repression recently listed among 19 individuals wanted by the Hong Kong government under the National Security Law (NSL). Ka Wai condemned the CCP’s brutal persecution of those who follow the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”
“This persecution not only rages in China but also infiltrates overseas, depriving human rights and destroying families, causing grief and outrage,” the letter stated. “As a Hong Konger, I have witnessed the pain of losing freedom and restricted faith. Many have been monitored, intimidated, or even ‘suicided’ for pursuing justice. Falun Gong practitioners, undeterred by tyranny, uphold truth with faith, which is deeply moving. In Hong Kong, despite suppression, practitioners persist at truth-clarification sites to expose the CCP’s nature. Evil forces once impersonated practitioners to provoke, but justice ultimately triumphs over lies.”
Wai urged, “The path to resisting tyranny is full of sacrifices, but Falun Gong’s perseverance is especially precious. I encourage everyone to unite, expose the CCP’s crimes, and awaken those asleep. Only by eliminating the CCP can we restore freedom to the world. Let us fight for faith, freedom, and human rights! Hong Kongers and global justice advocates stand with you, and may we together welcome the light!”
Chinese community calls for Canadian government to protect Falun Gong practitioners
Several members of the Democratic Party of China’s Canadian Committee joined the parade and rally. During the rally, Liu Mingyu and David Shao publicly declared their withdrawal from the CCP’s Young Pioneers, completely cutting ties with it.
Members of the Democratic Party of China and Falun Gong practitioners strongly condemned the CCP’s transnational repression in interviews, calling on the international community to protect overseas dissidents and Falun Gong practitioners. Li Lei emphasized that the CCP’s actions are “inhumane,” urging Canada to legislate protections for practitioners engaged in democratic activities and calling for “everyone to contribute their efforts” to promote relevant legislation.
He Bailing also opposed the CCP’s transnational repression of Falun Gong. Zhao Xiaomei noted that the CCP “runs rampant and bullies Chinese citizens” domestically, and its “evil forces” threaten the freedom of democratic countries if allowed to spread overseas, which must be firmly stopped. Yang Dexin criticized the CCP’s use of legal and political means to suppress Falun Gong, calling it “a severe violation of individual human rights and democracy” and firmly opposes such actions.
Liu Mingyu shared his personal experience, noting that he recognized the CCP’s persecution from a young age, but many in China “live in fear” due to information control. He supported Falun Dafa, emphasizing “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good.” David Shao was shocked and inspired by the Toronto parade: “We want China to achieve democracy, rule of law, and freedom, with Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance blossoming in every corner of China.”
Chen Jie voiced strong support for Falun Gong’s principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance,” condemning the CCP’s transnational repression, media smears, and defamation of Shen Yun performances used to suppress Falun Gong. He urged the Canadian government to cut ties with the CCP and end its repressive actions.
Yang Shenghe also denounced the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and dissidents, saying the regime labels “Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance” as a “cult” to mislead the public and has extended its persecution into democratic nations — an act he called “anti-human and inhumane.” He urged Canada to defend freedom of speech and freedom of belief.
Zhang Ke told Vision Times that she opposes the CCP’s “organ harvesting” crimes against Falun Gong practitioners, as well as its “intimidation, threats, and abductions” in transnational repression. She pointed out that the CCP fears Shen Yun’s exposure of its “crimes against humanity,” resorting to “bomb threats” and sabotaging performances, which only reveals its “evil deeds.” She called for defending “human rights” and “freedom of speech” to expose the CCP’s true nature globally.
