The latest 2026 Henley Passport Index ranking was released today. Among 199 passports worldwide, Asian countries once again show strong global mobility. Singapore has retained the title of the world’s strongest passport for several consecutive years, while Taiwan has made a significant leap compared to the previous ranking, rising to 32nd place. Taiwanese passport holders can now enter 135 countries and territories visa-free or with visa-on-arrival, reflecting an upward trend in international mobility.
According to the latest Henley Passport Index data, the Singapore passport remains at the top, allowing holders to enter 192 destinations without a prior visa. Japan and South Korea share second place, with access to 187 visa-free or visa-on-arrival destinations.
Sweden and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tie for third place, with visa-free access to 186 destinations.
Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and Switzerland share fourth place, with unrestricted access to 185 destinations. Austria, Greece, Malta, and Portugal tie for fifth, allowing visa-free entry to 184 countries and territories.

Taiwan rises one spot to 32nd
In the latest ranking, the passport representing the Republic of China (Taiwan) continues to improve, moving up one place from last year to 32nd, granting visa-free access to 135 countries and territories. This indicates increased freedom for Taiwanese passport holders in international travel and business activities.

It is noteworthy that the U.S. passport maintains 10th place on the list, allowing visa-free access to 179 destinations.
The Chinese passport, due to fewer visa-free destinations, ranks 56th, tied with Botswana.
At the bottom of the list are passports from countries such as Iraq and Syria, which allow visa-free access to very few countries.
The Henley Passport Index, compiled by the UK-based Henley & Partners, is an authoritative global ranking of passport mobility. Using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), it assesses how many countries and territories passport holders can enter without a visa, serving as an important reference for international travel freedom.
