From Iran to Cuba: Anti‑US Alliances Built by the CCP Are ‘Collapsing,’ Wang Hao

According to Liberty Times, writer Wang Hao recently posted on Facebook saying that from Iran in the Middle East to Cuba in Latin America, the long‑standing “anti‑American dictatorship bloc” cultivated over many years by the Chinese Communist Party is rapidly collapsing, and that the Trump administration has shown through a series of tough actions that the United States has the ability to suppress regimes that challenge its interests.

Wang Hao’s comments come against the backdrop of a series of recent changes in the international situation. In January of this year, the United States captured former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro; on Feb. 28, the United States and Israel jointly carried out a military operation against Iran, killing Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior Revolutionary Guard commanders.

As China has lost two important allies in succession, the situation in Cuba has also changed.

On March 13, Cuban President Miguel Díaz‑Canel publicly confirmed that the Cuban government has opened talks with the United States, and said he hopes to use negotiations to allow the two long‑opposed countries to “move beyond confrontation.” This statement also confirmed earlier remarks by U.S. President Trump that the U.S. was holding high‑level talks with Cuban representatives. The U.S. negotiator mentioned was U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is of Cuban heritage.

Wang Hao pointed out that Trump has “removed another of Xi Jinping’s allies.” On the eve of a planned meeting between Trump and Xi, the collapse of the dictatorship bloc has spread from the Persian Gulf to the Caribbean. With Venezuelan leader Maduro captured by U.S. forces, Iran’s religious system suffering heavy damage in “Operation Epic Fury,” and under huge pressure, Cuban Communist Party leader Díaz‑Canel ultimately chose to turn and announce talks with the United States. In his view, this not only symbolizes the further disintegration of the Cold War‑era order but also shows that the Trump administration is strategically weakening China’s influence in the Western Hemisphere.

Wang Hao believes that Cuba’s turn is not accidental. With the fall of the Maduro regime, the original energy and political support networks for the South American left have been cut off, and Havana has gradually fallen into isolation. He also mentioned that the Cuban foreign minister once sought help from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at a critical moment, but received only diplomatic statements with no substantive substance — which, in his view, again shows that Beijing finds it difficult to provide real support to allies when facing U.S. military and political pressure.

Wang Hao also pointed out that Cuba’s recent announcement of the release of 51 political prisoners and its talks with the United States indicate that Havana has realized that Beijing’s “Belt and Road” strategy is unlikely to provide it with security or economic guarantees. Under these circumstances, Cuba’s choice to engage with the United States is seen as a pragmatic policy adjustment.

He said: “From Iran in the Middle East to Cuba in Latin America, the ‘anti‑American dictatorship alliance’ that the Chinese Communist Party has nurtured for many years has crumbled. Trump has used strength to prove that the United States can erase any regime that doesn’t obey. As the CCP’s ‘left and right arms’ are cut one by one, the international community is witnessing the strategic isolation of a hollow great power. Now, the days of fence‑sitters are numbered; what remains is only Russia, mired in war, and that two‑hundred‑pound fool still dreaming of the ‘east rising and west declining.’”
