An invisible “spiritual war” has been quietly unfolding in daily life, say Christian analysts, who warn that the moral and spiritual struggle long foretold in biblical prophecy is now playing out in real-world politics.
Over the past two decades, Erick Stakelbeck — a veteran journalist who has covered the Middle East, terrorism, Israel, and global geopolitics — said that the recent victory of Zohran Mamdani in the New York City mayoral race marks a turning point in that timeline.
“The battle for souls and spirits is happening now,” he warned, “and the beast is quietly taking shape.”
Stakelbeck described Mamdani’s election as a sign that the “storms” predicted in Scripture are no longer far off in the future.
“When an Islamic communist who rejects the moral foundation of Western civilization takes power,” he said, “the impact reaches far beyond politics.”

Citing London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan — the first Muslim mayor of a Western capital, now serving a third term — Stakelbeck noted that despite promises of reform, London continues to rank among the United Kingdom’s most crime-ridden cities, plagued by violence, theft, and sexual assaults.
In Westminster, nearly half of all residents reportedly filed a police report in the past year.
He added that “London is no longer recognizable. If Winston Churchill were alive, he would be alarmed.”
Now, Stakelbeck warned, America’s most influential city appears to be following the same path.
“This is not random chaos,” he said. “It’s a spiritual conflict disguised as politics — and it aligns with prophecy.”
Similar concerns were echoed by the late commentator Charlie Kirk, who once warned that a “spiritual war” is sweeping Western civilization.
Kirk described the movement’s enemies as Marxism and Wokeism, ideologies he said are converging with radical Islam to attack what he called “the American way of life.”
He defined the American Dream as “the hope to marry, raise children, and own a home,” warning that both the LGBTQ agenda and Islamist ideology threaten that ideal.
A prophecy from 52 years ago
Open doors, warned another Christian minister, have invited malevolent forces — and the resulting chaos is spreading rapidly.
Preacher Perry Stone recently recalled a prophecy dating back to the 1970s that he believes is now being fulfilled.
Stone told of a former CIA agent named Bill Hall, who while hospitalized at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, became a devout Christian after meeting Stone’s father.
In later years, Hall shared warnings that proved strikingly prescient – among them: “We are concerned that extremist groups may hijack planes and crash them into buildings.”
Decades later, the world witnessed the 9/11 attacks — killing thousands.
In 1973, Hall also warned that people with extremist ideologies were entering the United States through student visas and other channels, harboring values “fundamentally opposed to America’s.”
“These dangerous radicals,” he said, “will one day control entire U.S. cities — their mayors, councils, even police and school boards.”
Half a century later, those warnings no longer sound hypothetical.
The rise of ideological extremism and moral confusion, Stone said, demands that people “stand firm in faith and discern right from wrong.”
The ‘beast’ and the coming crisis
Prophetic teacher Joseph Z issued a similar warning following Mamdani’s election, calling it a sign with implications far beyond politics.
He said Mamdani’s socialist and Islamic platform represents not just a political shift but part of a “spiritual battle for the soul of the city.”
Joseph pointed to two recent symbolic events: the passing of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney shortly before the vote — which he called “the end of an era” — and the collapse of a medieval tower near Rome’s Colosseum, which he likened to the broader crumbling of Western institutions.
He warned that the rise of the “beast system” — a network of global elites seeking control over governments, commerce, and human life — is already underway.
“From financial manipulation to artificial intelligence and digital currency,” Joseph said, “these are pieces of the same prophetic puzzle.”
He cautioned that an engineered crisis could be used to accelerate the creation of a fully controlled economic order.
